Brazil’s Lençóis Maranhenses national park
Considered a conservation unit for integral nature protection, the park was created in 1981.
Located on the east coast of the state of Maranhão. The Lençóis Maranhenses Park comprises the municipalities of Humberto de Campos, Primeira Cruz, Santo Amaro and Barreirinhas, the latter being the main gateway to this fantastic natural beauty.
Considered a conservation unit for integral nature protection. The park was created in 1981, with a total area of 156.5 thousand hectares, and is part of the Rota das Emoções.
Rainwater forms lagoons that spread across practically the entire area of the park, forming an incomparable landscape, being a rare geological phenomenon formed over thousands of years through the action of nature.
The best-known lagoons are the so-called Lagoa Azul and Lagoa Bonita, famous for their enchantment and swimming conditions.
